The DART rate counts only the more serious cases: those with days away from work, restricted duty or job transfer, per 100 full-time workers.

## How the DART rate is calculated

Add the cases with days away (column H of the 300A) and the cases with job transfer or restriction (column I), multiply by 200,000, and divide by the total hours worked by all employees in the year.

### How is DART different from TRIR?

TRIR counts every recordable case. DART leaves out cases that only needed medical treatment, so it reflects injuries that kept people from doing their normal job.
### Do I count the days or the cases?

The cases. A case with 30 days away counts once, the same as a case with one day away.
### Where do I find the numbers?

On your OSHA 300A summary: column H plus column I, and the total hours worked in the employment section.
