Is a splinter removed with tweezers OSHA recordable?
No. Removing splinters or foreign material from areas other than the eye by irrigation, tweezers, cotton swabs or other simple means is first aid. If a clinician has to cut the skin to get it out, that is medical treatment.
Why
- Only first aid was given. Every treatment you checked is on OSHA's first-aid list. 29 CFR 1904.7(a)
This answer comes from the same rule-by-rule check used in the HardHat Binder OSHA log, based on the facts described above. Different facts can change the result.
