Is a needlestick from a discarded syringe on a job site OSHA recordable?
Yes. A needlestick or cut from a sharp object contaminated with another person's blood or other potentially infectious material is recordable, even without treatment. Enter it as a privacy case: leave the worker's name off the log.
Why
- Contaminated needlestick or sharps injury. 29 CFR 1904.8
This answer comes from the same rule-by-rule check used in the HardHat Binder OSHA log, based on the facts described above. Different facts can change the result.
