Is an injury treated with a rigid splint or cast OSHA recordable?
Yes. Devices with rigid stays or other systems designed to immobilize parts of the body are medical treatment. The one exception is a splint used only to immobilize the worker for transport to care.
Why
- Treatment went beyond OSHA's first-aid list. 29 CFR 1904.7(b)(5)
This answer comes from the same rule-by-rule check used in the HardHat Binder OSHA log, based on the facts described above. Different facts can change the result.
